Embarassed very happy Mr. Green You're too kind, lar-lar.
You mean a real blizzard, with those sharp little razor slashes to the face, when you have to walk leaning far forward to avoid toppling backwards, when the only way to breathe is to put a hand in front of your mouth to cut off the smothering force of the cold wind?
Why don't we go straight for the hot chocolate instead?  Mr. Green

Getting to work on the bus was a breeze this morning after strikes all last week.

Downside is: general strike again tomorrow and heavy rain forecast. Sigh... [image no longer available]
Oh well, stick a smile on my face and things won't seem so bad.

Been rain and wind here this morning but it's calmed down a bit now. I'm delighted to say that I'm soon going to Glasgow to trade in my car for a newer one. One of my sons will come with me. I always get excited cos I love cars. It's a Toyota Aygo in pale blue. This model is not one of those recalled by Toyota because of faults. It'll cost me £85 extra to transfer my personal number plate to the new car but it will be worth it. It's M15 YRA. Get it?

    lol lol

Gosh, Feather, it seems like only yesterday you were all excited because you were due to go and collect your new car.

(I bet that personal number plate cost a lot more than £85 to purchase in the first place!)

My partner once had a really old Toyota, an old banger of a thing that he picked up for a song somewhere.

We had someone knock on our door one day offering FIVE TIMES more than he had paid for it (about 2 years previous).
It was perfect timing too because he had been thinking for some time about getting a decent car - so he accepted!
We were intrigued to know why this person was so interested in such a clapped out thing ... he told us it was the registration plate that interested him (he traded in them) and apparently the reg number 69Y would fetch a fair profit for him, as people would be clamouring for the 69 !! Takes all sorts I suppose. razz

My one wasn't too bad---£300 odd. Some of them were many thousands, dearer than my car!
I haven't got the car yet. I've had a re-think. I'm going to check out the garages in Orkney
today. You never know. Maybe my ideal car is sitting waiting for me across the road at Michael
Shearer's place. He is Morris's nephew and I've bought a few cars from him in the past. It would save me
the cost of going south. He's family so he gives me a good deal on my old car. Leigh and Ray both have a day
off work today so they are coming with me to keep me from buying a dodgy vehicle. I will report later.

This will be the last post from me on this thread cos cars are off topic.
There was no car I wanted in Orkney--well not at my price-- so Leigh and
I are off to Glasgow next week to get my new one. It's an Ice Blue Toyota Aygo
and I love the look of it. It's got low mileage on the clock and had only 1
    previous owner.

not off topic after all. I'm certainly smiling at the thought of getting a different car. I still love the one I have but it's good to go forward a couple of years. I see we've got a new member here. That's great.xxx.

I don't have any recent photos of me and I gave away my digital camera last year because I never used it.
I did try to find some photos which I'd stored on my computer, taken with colleagues at a reception a few years ago, but they were no longer there. I probably deleted them myself after a while, though I don't remember.
I wouldn't have indicated which one was me anyway and there were a lot of us there. Mr. Green

There was a huge black coach parked opposite the bus stop
and in big white letters on the side and above the windscreen
    was written:

    STARDUST

    That made me smile.  happyheart

Not for the first time, I made me smile, well my foot did.
I am sitting reading the paper when a catchy tune came on the radio, I noticed my foot going back and forth in time to the music, soon followed by my head.  excited

Smile of the day  very happy
This morning I had a symphony of sirens, starting with a series of public alarm tests, then an ambulance and a police car, and lastly the clanging of a bell. Strangely, they sounded good all together, quite musical.  very happy
