SNU - SOS (Save Our Spiritualism) Empty SNU - SOS (Save Our Spiritualism)

Post by Candlelight.kk Sun 10 Jun 2018 - 12:30

This petition (from 2 years ago) is now closed, but (reading the reasons for the petition) I don't think much has changed since then:

SNU - SOS (Save Our Spiritualism) SWVTLknGTexKygC-48x48-noPad
Peter Doswell started this petition to Spiritualist National Union and 2 others
Spiritualism Under The S.N.U In The United Kingdom Is In Serious Decline . There Is A Serious Lack Of Interaction With Prospective Congregations . Churches Run By The SNU Are Closing . Power And Ego And Politics Is Rife In Our Churches And Has And Is Driving Many Mediums Away From The Churches Run By The SNU . I Became A Spiritualist Medium In An SNU Church In 1989 . People With Ego Seem To Forget That They Are Human And Have Never Made Mistakes . In Fact Many Presidents And SNU Committee / District Council Members Of Churches And The Organisation Would Do Well To Remember That They Are Merely " Caretakers " . We Need To Be Building A Stronger Spiritualism For Our Future Generations . The Gift Of Spirit Communication Must Never Be Lost . The Pioneers Worked Hard To Get Where We Are Today . In 2012 A Local SNU Church Was About To Close Due To Lack Of Members And Attendances Were Very Low . I Pleaded With The Then President Of The Southern District Council To Let Me Go In And Turn It Around . They Ignored My Offer And The SNU Closed The Church . Within Two Weeks I Had It Open As An Independent Centre With Over 60 People A Week Attending . I Then Opened Another Centre From Scratch . Within A few Weeks That Centre Had 80 People Attending . I Took A Break Due To Ill Health But I Am Now Back To 100% . I Would Be Delighted To Be A Voluntary Ambassador For The SNU . I Want To Work With Them . I Am Deeply Saddened Where Spiritualism Is Heading In Our United Kingdom . Change Must Happen . This Week I Have Learned That Another SNU Church In London Has Closed . The Church I Started In As A Boy SNU Is Now In Serious Trouble Along With Many Others In My City . I Have Raised This Petition To Plead Once Again With The SNU Nationwide To Allow Me To Help . I Cannot Stand By And Watch My Spiritual Home Collapse Because Of A Lack Of Enthusiasm And EGO . Listen To Me I Want To Help You SNU . Embrace The Power Of Spirit . With Spirit Everything Is Possible . We Need Change .[Telephone number deleted by admin] . Please Share This Petition Wherever You Can . It Does Not Matter If You Are Not SNU . SOS . Save Our Spiritualism . ©️ Peter Doswell 2016 .

This Is For All Mediums And Spiritualists . The True Work Of Spirit Must Continue . Love To All . Please Contact Your Local SNU District Council To Show Your Support For What I Am Offering To Do . The Big Question Is . How Many More Churches Will They Close ? Will They Listen This Time ? If Your Church Needs Help Contact Me . I Am Here To Serve Spirit x  . Perhaps if the guy had been able to reach us then there would have been more signatures?

I'm mindful, though, that Modern Spiritualism isn't only the SNU and its churches although I acknowledge that without churches and centres where do folk find their introduction to Spiritualism?  I'm not a churchgoer, haven't been in decades, yet still suggest seekers should visit churches.

SNU - SOS (Save Our Spiritualism) Empty Re: SNU - SOS (Save Our Spiritualism)

Post by JDBP Fri 15 Jun 2018 - 10:29

Spiritualism is dead (pun intended)
The SNU is a cult that is struggling to attract new followers.
People just arent as dumb as they used to be.
Psychics/mediums who appear on TV are generally derided as frauds, and this is the main way that groups like the SNU get interest.

Most Haunted / Derek Acorah created a boom in spiritualism in the 2000s, but now that is long over.

100% correct. I want to believe, I have never said anything else.
I hate being right 100% of the time about mediums etc.
I only do what I do for so long because I want to be proven wrong.

So I am a long suffering wannabe spiritualist.
I know more about the cult than anyone else on here.
I have done more than anyone else on here.
I have stood on platform, given readings, studied the history.
Met more mediums face to face than anyone else on here.
I am the most experienced and knowledgeable person on here when it comes to spiritualism.

Which annoyingly also makes me the most skeptical.
For not only do I know how it all works, I also know what goes on behind the scenes, and I am not just talking about how mediums perform readings, but also how the industry works, how the SNU works, how certain groups confiscate deeds to churches, how certain high ups in various spiritualist organisations bully and threaten newbie mediums.

And if just one medium could do what they claim and prove that just 1% of it is real, I would lead a revolution like never seen before, and take spiritualism to a new level that would truly change the world for the better.

Instead all I find is frauds.

If one person on here knows more than me, has done more than me, can show me how I am wrong I would love to see it.

Unfortunately all we have is an old geezer in Mac who never leaves his house, and Cathy who sits in the dark and puts on mens voices, maybe it is some kind of kinky sex game? Who knows.

What stops you from ever becoming a Modern Spiritualist, Mr Faker, is that you have no means of separating wheat from the chaff.  It's not your fault, of course, that you have no experience of these matters but your attitude doesn't encourage others to try to help you.  Crying or Very sad  We don't need your help of course!

A similar lack of understanding because of a lack of personal experience may also makes it much harder for other individuals to be persuaded.  But that's of no interest to you because only you matter to you, despite all your protestations.  And that's probably why you are drawn to keep coming back here, even though you know that WE won't be dissuaded by your clowning.  Rolling Eyes  And we don't need anything from you either....

You forget that I have read the 6-page report in the Skeptic mag where you gave a day-by-day account of the so-called [sometimes stated 6 weeks / sometimes 7 or 8 weeks - when in fact it was one day a week over 6 weeks, making it a 6 days] 'course' in 'mediumship' that you took part in. (Can't believe now that I actually paid! to have the issue sent to me because you refused to publish it or otherwise make it available online anywhere else). If it makes you happy to think that such activity makes you the "most experienced and knowledgeable person on here" where Spiritualism is concerned, then you are just proving how utterly ridiculous such a remark makes you and your "thinking process" sound.

I'm seriously beginning to wonder if you actually know the true meaning of the term "skeptical".

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. .... If you are really under the impression that every single person that practices mediumship is a fraud.full.stop. - then sadly that just shows to the world that you do not possess even the tiniest grasp of discernment or rational judgement and that you would not recognize an actual FRAUD even if he/she were to jump up and bite you on the nose. rabbit

It just seems to me that your brain is stuck in a permanent state of denial.

The mistake we're perhaps making is in treating this faker as if he's genuinely concerned about people and the situation he appears to genuinely believe he understands.  Then we respond to points he's made as if we think he'll heed those responses....  Who's dafter - him or us?He knows we're not going to change because of what he says yet he continues to visit this little website and trot out all the usual guff here.

Elsewhere he would probably be seen as a troll, an individual whose main purpose is to sow discord while pretending to care.  And as with trolls they should either be prevented from doing what they do or simply be ignored by the regular members.

He's a sad character who tries to make others sad too.  Misery loves company.

If serious, Misty - it can be found in Skeptic magazine, Volume 21, Issue No. 4 (Winter 2008):

but you would have to purchase a copy yourself; it is not available to read freely online.

No point in asking yer man himself (the guy who professes to provide back-up of everything he claims Rolling Eyes , because you would only get the coloured, exaggerated version.

By the way: I hasten to add that the wrong spelling of 'mediumship' quoted in my last post is not a spelling error of mine - that quoted heading is copied over verbatim from the printed publication itself (contained in the link above). (A telling example of how careful (NOT) some of these so-called 'sceptical' groups are when it comes to checking the FACTS!)
