The Ghost of Spiritlove Empty The Ghost of Spiritlove

Thanks to the Wayback Machine, the Spiritlove Forum still haunts the net, and indeed some of the ghosts are still alive and haunting these very pages today (yours truly for one - aka Kitkat).

Some of the links actually work; if you click on them they will take you directly to the full topic as it was on that date.

Spiritlove main page from 20th June, 2012 (all topic links & posts alive and readable!):  Click here

Spiritlove Portal:  14th April 2013 (complete with ghost working Shoutbox!): Click here

Go on, give some of them a try.  You might even recognize yourself from there.
Some of the posts date back to 2008.  Even the animated avatars are still there.  Spooky ..... ghost

and a special little gem here from The Interview Room - An Interview with Jon Donnis (of BadPsychics notoriety) from 30 March 2008 (which he later wanted us to delete, lol, but it still remains for all to see):  monster Click here

Also from The Interview Room - an interview with Dr Matthew Smith: Click here
(This only captures the first page (of 2), but every page on Spiritlove contained 100 posts)

Matthew Smith, you may remember, was the original Parapsychologist on the paranormal reality TV series Most Haunted, from 2002 to 2005)

Another interview with Dr Matthew Smith from 4th April 2011, when he was then known as the 'Million Dollar Psychic'.  This interview was conducted by Chris Jensen Romer (CJ), who was also a member of Spiritlove forum.  You can see CJ's interview HERE.

I'll take a look later, especially at the Donnis interview.  He's someone who's now dropped out of the public eye - he doesn't even have anything to say here!

Is it possible - would you want to - recover and copy the lost material so as to save it, kk?  If only so it's not lost for good in future.

Great to see the old SL forum just how it used to be! very happy
I am really enjoying looking back and reading all those old posts and seeing all the old familiar names.  happyheart

It was the end of an era when Spiritlove closed down, was like losing a whole family for me, and now this is a chance to have a sort of family reunion. Very special.
Thank you kk, means a lot. thanks

The Gary Mannion thread was one of the longest topics on Spiritlove forum with the most pages of comments of any topic there.

Tbh, I wouldn't know how to go about doing that.  The Wayback Machine has captured quite a bit on various live dates throughout the lifetime of SL and, as far as I know, anything that has been saved in the Wayback Machine will remain there indefinitely, or at least for as long as Wayback Machine site is in operation.
I imagine that anyone with the required technical knowhow might be able to recover all those links and save them into a completed collective format, but it's beyond my limits, unfortunately.

I'm presuming you are referring to this thread - being just one of those long GM threads on SL.  This particular thread containing well over 19,000 posts was captured by Wayback Machine at some stage.  This link has captured just one of those pages (containing a mere 100 of those posts):

I did wonder how doable it might be.  I did a few quick tests to see what I could find of Spiritlove postings etc. but without much success.  And when I tried following a few links I usually ended up with the same page - not archived by Wayback Machine or some such thing....

I was rather surprised to see that Gary Mannion was once a member - THAT Gary Mannion, say no more.

I don't know if I was ever a member of Spiritlove website but I've been a member on a number of sites over the years, website names I've forgotten.  Maybe I once was a member on Spiritlove too?????

This might jog the ol' memory a bit, mac - a caption of SL's home page from 29 October 2011, where you posted in the topic 'Spirit of PN'.  Does that ring a bell?

Here's another caption from earlier times (October 2009) when the forum was quite busy and active - albeit, perhaps, in a controversial kind of way ... pirat  (I notice a lot of the skeptics were online around that time).
Ah, the good ol' days ... sigh

Ah yes - the brouhaha surrounding the near-death-experience of Psychic News.  I've spoken about that recently to David Bruton.  I had forgotten being involved here over it but now I vaguely recall posting my thoughts - I don't know what I wrote but I bet I wasn't happy about things!.  I couldn't get to view any of the second link as I was taken to a login page and couldn't get any further.  So I was indeed a contributor all that time ago.

I've just realised that (from that first link that I posted above, from October 2011)

    - this one [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

if you click into the square bracketed link that says [SNU kills off  Psychic News - read all about it] (oops - typo in there!) - it has captioned all the posts from that sublink - 1 page of 1.  That's interesting.

The link within that page to Roy Stemman's Paranormal Review has also been captioned there in full!:

Yes I've seen what you've seen.  The second link and the pages accessible from there look to have been archived but not the first one.  I readily acknowledge I don't understand how the Wayback Machine operates but some pages appear 'active' - clickable links leading to other pages - whereas others aren't active.

I've been bashing on about this spooks stuff for more time than I'd realised.  I don't know if I should be heartened I'm still doing it or sad that I ought to have got a life sometime between then and now.....

I do remember how PN  - 'Voice of Spiritualism' - nearly died but hadn't recently thought about how acrimonious the whole business was at that time, especially in connection with the behaviour of certain members of the organising body of the SNU.

And this past year I've joined the ranks and been a member of that union - hmmmm  thumbdown
