    J.H. Brennan's book WHISPERERS: THE SECRET HISTORY OF THE SPIRIT WORLD is worth reading too.
    In it he mentions the regular seances Queen Victoria held with John Brown as her medium.

    No mac, I just read about it in that Daily Mail link from 2013. I would love to read the book but not been able to find it anywhere.
    Its not just about Queen Victoria and John Brown, suggests loads more world leaders and prominent people in government etc who are said to secretly consult mediums and lots more about spiritualism, things not so publicly well known.

    ah, OK - I did read the newspaper review but wondered if you'd read the book itself.  I suppose it's long out of print anyway.

    This is a question that interests me greatly and I vaguely remembered having a discussion on the subject some time ago elsewhere in this forum (in what we now call the 'old LAL') so I used the forum's Search button to try and find out where that was
