    Gordon Smith's June Newsletter

I had been wondering what to write about this month, but then I had a dream last night which was really quite bizarre and also very beautiful. It was to do with working hard and building things. It was a dream about my dad who passed away last year. My dad was always one for making us work. You could never be unemployed in my house – he was that kind of man. He took my hand and said, “Son, you’ve got to work harder at what you’re doing. No matter how good something becomes, you have to keep working at it and making it better. Everything you are building now will become part of your future.”

My old teacher, Mrs Primrose, who has also passed away, was in this dream too, and she was talking about building my spiritual life. She was like my dad in that sense; you had to work hard at everything. And she said, “Now, get on with things!” I thought, Yes, that’s the attitude to bring into the next part of the year – seeing hard work not as a chore, but as an absolute pleasure.

So in the dream, I started building a bridge on the seacoast of Scotland, putting stones one on top of the other, and I kept building and building and before I knew it, I’d built a bridge across to America! From the top of the bridge, I could see everything and everyone who meant anything to me working on it with me.

The essence of the dream was to work hard, but if you bring a good attitude and positivity to everything you do, it won’t seem hard – and before you know it, you’ll have built a bridge across the Atlantic!

    All the best,
    Gordon
