Another one bites the dust / merged with The Scole Experiment

Post by Candlelight on 19th April 2017, 18:19

(originally posted on 26 Jan 2015 11:41 am )

Narrated by Donal MacIntyre, The Scole Experiment chronicles the extraordinary results of a five-year investigation into life after death. At the beginning of 1993 four psychic researchers embarked on a series of experiments in the Norfolk village of Scole. The subsequent events were so astounding that senior members of the prestigious Society for Psychical Research asked to observe, test and record what took place. The investigators... encountered evidence favouring the hypothesis of intelligent forces... able to influence material objects, and to convey associated meaningful messages, both visual and aural.

The Scole Experiment: SPR - The Scole Debate 1999 - London - Exhibition of Evidence

The Society for Psychical Research (SPR) hosted The Scole Debate on 11 December 1999 at Kensington Library in London. Grant Solomon, author of 'The Scole Experiment', presents and outlines some of the evidence from the displays exhibited at the venue prior to the debate.

The evidence collected is recorded in detail in the updated 2006 edition of The Scole Experiment, published by Campion Books. For 'The Scole Experiment: Scientific Evidence for Life After Death', a book covering the whole five-year experiment, and further recommended reading, go to http://astore.amazon.co.uk/resolution.... The Scole Experiment (Documentary)

Post by Misty on 19th April 2017, 18:24

Where are all these people now? All this took place about 20 years ago. Nothing's been heard about any of it since. Where are all the people now that were involved and what are they doing now? I would love to know.

Take a look at PM4U, physicalmediumship4u.ning.com where you'll find NSSF founder Robin Foy and can pick up on what's being proposed for a 'new Scole', an experimental center in Spain.

Thanks mac. I had a look at that link, but couldn't see anything about the new Scole experimental centre. It appears to be a private forum. You have to join the site to read in full any of the comments there.

Yes that's right but it's easy enough to become a member and you'd then be able to access details in the 'Blogs' section. It's titled 'Scole - the final project'. PM4U is very different from this website but worth taking a look if p.m. is of interest to you.

To save you the trouble, Misty. Here are details of the proposed new centre - as presented by Robin Foy:

Spoiler:
" Hi Everybody,

Prior to our visit and formal viewing last Wednesday the 12th November of the proposed Centre which can be identified as the one mentioned in my blog: Scole - the Final Project, I promised to send out a report to a number of my friends about the special property which is currently for sale in the Antequera area of Andalucía, Spain. This exact property has been indicated to us by Spirit for the last 7 years as the place they want Sandra and me to acquire as a specialist Centre for the study; development and demonstration (as well as education to the public about) physical mediumship and its phenomena. I am now doing that in a blog for all my friends (Members of PM4U) to see.

It would also serve as the International Headquarters of 'The Spiritual Science Foundation' - a non-profit organisation that we are actually in the process of registering formally in Spain at this very moment. The asking price for the property is €300,000 euros, but there is still room for negotiation on that price, and we feel that it could possibly sink as low as €250,000 euros as the current owner (a lady who is over 90 years old) is fairly desperate to sell.

With the total amount of land involved along with this property being no less than a generous 25,700 square metres; the main (Centre) building is extremely large (a total of 460+ square metres within the building). There are two barns on the property (a very large one that has housed goats, and a smaller one that is perfect for conversion to a small gite and dedicated séance room). The actual main building is an ex Bar/Restaurant that has failed as a business at least twice in the last 4 years. I can confirm that the current asking price is indeed rock bottom and represents a superb bargain in real estate. Definitely a solid investment for a potential 'Patron' or a 'Canny Company Investor' as - in the next 5-10 years (and with a lot of work and much Tender Loving Care from us) it is almost certain to more than double in value.

Our first formal viewing of the property last Wednesday (after driving over 260 miles and staying overnight in a hotel) was quite difficult as we had expected to be met by the owner's granddaughter and - in fact - it was the owner herself - a very formidable old lady in her 90's - who came instead. She was accompanied by a young man who might even have been a great grandson. Neither, regrettably, spoke any English (whilst we knew the granddaughter spoke a little), and the old lady wanted to rush us round the property whilst smothering us with a rapid Spanish commentary in a regional accent not known to us at all before (as she imagined) taking the money for the property sale from us in cash there and then!!!! Unfortunately, therefore, our first formal viewing was not quite as long or as thorough as we would have liked. We were there just 30 minutes.

However, that was long enough for us to get a pretty good idea of everything that was involved with regard to the property. I am attaching 4 rough schematic diagrams (I have drawn) of the upstairs; downstairs; potential gite & séance room (now a storage barn), and the whole site of 25,700 square metres. None of these are to scale, but they will give you a pretty good idea of the setup of the land and buildings.

Part of the Car Park at the front of the property had been recently re-surfaced with tarmac. Since all the land in front of the property was included in the sale up to the road, we estimated that the car park would hold anything up to 80 vehicles at any one time. There are gates to the left of the property where the drive at the side of the main building allows access to any lorry or car wanting to reach as far as the first barn (which currently has a garage door at the front). To the right, there is an archway with gate that gives pedestrian access to the Bar/Restaurant and to a side terrace which was used for further customers' tables whilst the restaurant was operating.

On that right side also was a French-window style access into the Grand Salon/Restaurant, and a second door a little further on along the right also gave access to the rear of the restaurant. There was a third door towards the back of the building on the right side which gave access directly to the stairs leading to the first floor accommodation.

The terraces to the left and right sides and the very large terrace at the back of the building were laid with stone slabs, but all these were totally overgrown with weeds, and several strong applications of weedkiller would be necessary all round to put that right. Walking around the building however, gave the impression (that would need to be verified by a good surveyor) that the building (which is quite old - we did not manage to date it accurately owing to difficulty of communication at this stage) is very solid, and does not need any major restoration - just cosmetic alterations for the time being.

Inside, the Grand Salon (or Hall) was fairly neat and tidy. There was a Bar right across the back of the room (the site of which had been changed since our first visit to the Restaurant where we ate a meal 7 years ago). We did feel that before it could be used as a Centre, the room would need a total redecoration, as the walls are currently painted in a dark red colour. The ex restaurant tables and chairs were stacked in this hall and would - we understood - be included in the sale. Off the Hall was a men's toilet with two stalls and two urinals (in very good tiled condition); a ladies toilet with three stalls (in a very good tiled condition) and a storage room about the same size as one of the toilets which (we believed) had been used as a storage facility for bar stock. This was also in a good condition.

There is access from the rear of the hall to the commercial kitchen, which is large, and contains two very large but ancient commercial ovens which seemed very dirty, and would not be suitable for us to use today. These had operated on bottle gas, and there is a small storage cupboard outside for the large cylinders. There were however a few good stainless steel catering tables that remain, and which would be useful.
There is mains electric to the property, and a landline telephone, but we ascertained that the water currently comes from a nearby spring. We have been aware of the spring ourselves and the river that leads from it for 7 years, as it is mentioned in all the tourist literature. The water is quite pure and filters through the 'Torcal' mountain very close by (the property is in the lee of the 'Torcal' itself). We believe (and would need to confirm when the premises is visited by a surveyor) that the sewage is connected to a septic tank.

A rear double door leads out of the commercial kitchen into (on the right hand side) what was the servery for drinks and barbeques on the rear terrace of the property with half moon window openings - as can be seen in two of the enclosed pictures, and (on the left) a utility room. Both the servery and the utility room were in a mess with junk all over the floor, and would need to be cleaned up, but the structure in both cases appeared to be sound.

We were taken up the stairs to see the accommodation on the first floor. That was generally in very good condition, and the rooms would immediately be habitable after a lick of paint all round. One of the rear double bedrooms immediately at the top of the stairs was being used as a dining room, and French doors led from this room out onto the tiled sun terrace which was over the top of the servery and utility room.

All of the rooms led off a central corridor which was neat, and tiled throughout. (See the attachments for the exact room layout and schematic) There were two small domestic kitchenettes/galleys which (in our opinion) needed to be knocked through into one larger domestic kitchen. Two of the bedrooms were single bedrooms, but all the others were large and excellent in size and condition. The two bathrooms were adequate; each had a bath but no current shower. Looking from the front of the property, the master bedroom was on the left (overlooking the hills and the property's olive grove to the side, and the road at the front. The salon/living room was large and airy. Also at the front but to the right (overlooking a farmer's fields to the side, and the road at the front.

We managed to get access to the smallest of the two barns, which was to the left of - and behind - the rear terrace of the property. It was a little disappointing to discover that all the interior walls were rough (breeze-block type) and needed plastering but - nevertheless - the property would easily convert into a small gite, despite the fact that internal walls, adequate flooring and a false roof needed to be added. At the front of this building, there is a storage garage with a garage door, which - without too much trouble - could rapidly be turned into a dedicated séance room. This would need a rear door adding to the back wall of this room, and the current window and garage door need to be bricked up. Like the rest of this barn, all the walls would need plastering and a ceiling needs to be added.

On a positive note, there had been a sizeable kitchen garden to the right hand side of this small barn. Whilst covered in weeds, I could see that the soil in this raised kitchen garden was rich and would (after lots of digging and raking) produce some good vegetables. At the back of this kitchen garden area was a mesh enclosure which looked as though it might have been used for keeping chickens in the past.

Beyond the small barn was a fence and gate behind which was a large rear garden, somewhat overgrown, and stocked mainly with almond trees. At the very end of the garden was - we could see - a large barn, and we were told that this had housed goats in the past. Unfortunately, we could not get access to the bottom part of the garden because the gate was locked with a chain and padlock and we were told that the owner had lost the key to the padlock!!! On the next viewing, I think we will need to go equipped with bolt cutters!!!

We did not have the opportunity to walk the full boundary of the property this time - as I wanted to do - but this is something that we would insist on the next time we visit. I am attaching the 4 schematic drawings I did of the premises, plus some pictures of the property.

I look forward to receiving members' comments on the property!!

The location sounds perfect. If I had the means it's the kind of place I would purchase. So much potential for all kinds of life plans.
I hope it gets put to good use.

It may sound a perfect location but perfection comes at a high price and deep pockets will be needed to buy and then run the venture. There's a saying that spirit will provide but we'll have to see if it can provide in some way the many Euros it's gonna need. We can only hope it all works out....

From what I have seen, there is an abundance of deeply filled pockets connected to the sort of operating practices surrounding "physical mediumship" these days. it seems also that many of those involved in those practices are known and named frauds who have been repeatedly outed for fraudulent practice and yet whom continue to tour and travel throughout the world, peddling those same practices - under the guise of advertised demonstrations/workshops - whilst charging phenomenal amounts of money in order to do so. A number of those individuals do appear to be connected in various ways with that mentioned PM4U website. Of course, 'guilt by association' should not really be a trusted accusatory factor, but it does necessitate the consideration of some amount of caution and question ....

I agree absolutely on all your points, kk. I'm pretty sure I know which performers you're thinking of! I can see how such individuals might see such a venture as a money-spinner and even a tax write-down. Are we being cynical? Or just realistic?

Well, I will be very interested to hear what happens, if anything, with the new Scole centre proposal but I am not interested in joining that other place. Looks a bit like a FB group, littered with triviality, disjointed and not easy to follow a subject through.

Seems to be an unfortunate, inevitable, progressive (or regressive - depending on how you look at it?) trend where we are seeing all the community-based forums closing down one-by-one across the net.

The Physical Mediumship site, PM4U, is next in line for closure - and the site owner, Robin Foy, lists its reasons here:

FINAL MONTH OF THE PM4U WEBSITE

As the saying goes - 'All Good Things Have to Come to an End'.

And now - Finally - This saying must also apply to my website: Physical Mediumship 4U.

I started the website seven and a half years ago, in February 2009, in order to share my specialist knowledge (gained over 43 years), as well as to help and advise people all over the world who are seriously interested in Physical Mediumship and its Phenomena.

I am very proud of the fact that we now have 3,100 members of PM4U after all this time, many of whom (I hope) I have been able to help along the way to developing or witnessing this unique form of mediumship (in its two different formats) for themselves, and it is a joy to me that I can now count many of these PM4U members amongst my closest Personal Friends.

There are three specific reasons why the site will be closing towards the end of October:

Firstly, the site itself is in a somewhat old-fashioned format, and would require rebuilding in a more up-to-date fashion. I lack the technical ability to do that myself, and feel that perhaps it is time to bring this site - hosted by Ning - to a natural ending. Perhaps this is the time now for me to move onto a different phase, and to look at something different.

Secondly, I have always insisted that the PM4U site should be a free site for its members, and have funded the monthly costs from my own pocket throughout its life. Limited book sales of my own books and of the 'Basic Guide' have helped in a small way, but have not completely covered the costs.

Whilst my own pension income stayed at a steady level until June 23rd this year, it has not been easy to deal with the fact that the 'Brexit' Vote has reduced that income by 15% at a single stroke, with no immediate prospect of improvement.

Thirdly, 'the straw that broke the camel's back' was the announcement by PM4U's site hosts 'Ning' that they will be doubling the monthly fees to host the site from October. Regrettably, that announcement has made it quite impossible for me to continue running the site and - from a moral point of view - I do not agree with their decision to charge so much extra without their supplying extra services.

However, I shall be saving important records, photos and data from the site over the next month until it closes and, after a short break, might consider looking at the possibility of a more modern site - run in a different way.

I would like to stress that for those interested in my books, there is still a last opportunity for PM4U members to buy copies of 'Witnessing the Impossible' (at the specially reduced sale price) and download copies of 'The Basic Guide' books from: http://www.scoleexperiment.com or to buy my first book 'In Pursuit of Physical Mediumship' direct from the publisher: http://www.januspublishing.co.uk/produc ... mediumship

Even when the site closes, I will continue to be available to answer questions, or to help and advise anyone who is seriously interested in the subject of Physical Mediumship and its Phenomena, on Facebook, or either of my email addresses: scolehole@yahoo.co.uk or scoleexperiment@yahoo.co.uk As I am not constantly active on the Internet, please excuse me if it takes a while for me to get back to you.

Finally, I would just like to thank all of you who have contributed to; and/or supported PM4U, and who have shared your own experiences with us here.

Bless you all.

Warmest wishes for the future.

Robin Foy

Perhaps not a final "Farewell", but a possible "Au revoir" .... ?
Another newsletter from the site owner:

FINAL DAYS OF THE PM4U WEBSITE
I emailed all members a while ago to let you know that this must also apply to my website: Physical Mediumship 4U, and now there are just a few more days before the site is scheduled to close.

Due to the generosity of one of our members, however, we are currently working on the possibility that he will shortly be in a position to host a re-vamped PM4U site on one of his own servers, and help with its re-building.

In the meantime, the site as it stands (as a 'Ning' site) will shortly disappear.

I started the website over seven and a half years ago, in February 2009, in order to share my specialist knowledge (gained over 43 years), as well as to help and advise people all over the world who are seriously interested in Physical Mediumship and its Phenomena.

There are three specific reasons why the current site will be closing shortly:

Firstly, the site itself is in a somewhat old-fashioned format, and requires rebuilding in a more up-to-date fashion. I lack the technical ability to do that myself, and feel that perhaps it is time to bring this site - hosted by Ning - to a natural ending. Perhaps this is the time now for me to move into a new phase - looking at something different in addition to the possibility of a re-vamped site.

Secondly, I have always insisted that the PM4U site should be a free site for its members, and have funded the monthly costs from my own pocket throughout its life. Limited book sales of my own books and of the 'Basic Guide' have helped in a small way, but have not completely covered the costs.

Whilst my own pension income stayed at a steady level until June 23rd this year, it has not been easy to deal with the fact that the 'Brexit' Vote has now reduced that income by 18% at a single stroke, with no immediate prospect of improvement.

THANK YOU ALL SINCERELY FOR YOUR FRIENDSHIP AND SUPPORT ON PM4U

With Love and Blessings to you all

THE ORIGINAL PHYSICAL MEDIUMSHIP4U IS BACK

Announcement from Robin Foy: (7 Feb 2017)

Hi to All the former and current Members of my site (from 2009 to 2016) http//:physicalmediumship4u.ning.com

Following a climbdown by Ning (who wanted to double the monthly cost of this site overnight in October last), and a letter from them confirming that I can now continue the site at the original price per month, I am delighted to inform all members that the site is now back again and fully operational, and that I will continue to fund the site out of my own pocket.

I hope you will all be happy to resume your free membership of the site, and will pass on details to your friends and colleagues, so that we can increase the membership to include everybody from all over the world who is interested in the subject of physical mediumship and its phenomena.

As before, you can now contact me (and other members & friends) through the site, or contact me via either of my email addresses: scolehole@yahoo.co.uk or scoleexperiment@yahoo.co.uk

I would also like to offer my sincere thanks to those members who have helped me create a new site, which hopefully will shortly be running alongside this original site for everybody to enjoy.

Love and light.

Robin Foy

interesting news

Although my membership there was rescinded after a certain troll's gloating and mischievous interference, I wish the Foy's the best of luck with their website and I'm glad Ning backed down over its unwarranted price rise threat.

So are the Scole Experiments still continuing in the new property in Spain? Did they go through with the proposed purchase that they were looking at in January 2015?

No idea, Misty. I looked up that Spiritual Science Foundation mentioned in that blog, and this is all I could find: http://www.spiritualresearchfoundation.org/. Seems to be some kind of quasi-religious-related organisation.

To the best of my recollection a large amount of money would need to be raised for the purchase of the land and property and then all the legal formalities would have to be completed before conversion of the building etc. could take place.

I suppose a couple of years would be long enough but I haven't 'heard' anything so I don't know anything either.

The 'operating name' of the so-called Scole experimental group during their heyday was the 'The New Spiritual Science Foundation'.

The Scole Experiment

Post by Candlelight on 2nd July 2017, 14:26

Latest from Robin Foy:

Hi everybody.

A few Days ago, Sandra and I travelled down south to the Costa del Sol to meet up with our daughter. This gave us the opportunity on the return Journey to once again visit and view the premises in Antequera which Spirit have indicated for several years now is the VERY ONE they want us to have, and to turn into an International and important Centre for the Scientific Study of; Education about; Development of and Demonstration of Physical Mediumship in its two different formats - both Ectoplasm-based and Energy-based Physical Phenomena.

We were delighted to see that the premises has not been sold or developed in any way, and is still unoccupied. Hopefully that means it is ready for us to take it over!!! At an excellent and very evidential private telephone sitting with a UK medium a couple of weeks ago, we were urged by Spirit to go ahead with this important Project. So much so, they even told us how to go about raising the funds to accomplish this. A website was mentioned 'gofundme.com' by the medium who - herself - does not own or understand anything about computers.

Consequently, I have followed Spirit's advice, and posted a funding request online. The link for this site, and to add donations is:  https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/robin-foy

Some of our friends and members of PM4U have kindly donated already - so many thanks to them for that
I have updated and highlighted my 3 blogs about this centre here on this site (PM4U), so please re-read these blogs, and pass the information on to everyone you know or are friendly with so this important project can continue to move forward till we are finally able to secure this wonderful centre.

Some 9 years ago, after being told by Spirit about the Centre we would have - and that it would be in Antequera, and prior to our first visit to the town, Sandra's mum (in Spirit) told us to 'look out for the goats with the bells'. At the time, we did not know quite how significant and evidential that remark would be. On our first visit to the town, we stopped casually at a restaurant for a meal. Whilst we were there, we suddenly saw hundreds of goats with bells on swooping down the hillside towards the restaurant!! Even then, it was a few years before we realised that the restaurant itself was THE actual place intended for our Centre.

When we visited the premises again last Friday, both Sandra and I had silently asked Spirit for a sign that we were still intended to have THIS premises as a Centre. Suddenly, and just a few hundred yards past the 'Centre', a farmer ran into the road, and stopped us. He was followed by no less than 1,000+ goats and sheep with bells on who swept down the hillside and over the road. I really think we got our sign!!!
We fully appreciate all your help, and feel that when (not if) this centre is finally up and running, everyone - and particularly our PM4U members - will benefit from this custom-made facility!!!

Bless you all.

Robin

Maybe folk still need to be persuaded there's mileage in the project?  Perhaps crowd-funding might be the answer?  Wink

I guess helping to spread the word is the only means that I have available to me, as a contribution to the cause:

Robin and Sandra Foy were part of the Scole Experimental Group during the 1990's, that has now become Internationally famous for 'The Scole Experiment' which mainly took place in their home at the UK village of Scole. They helped pioneer a totally new way of producing Physical Psychic Phenomena that was energy-based instead of ectoplasm-based. The phenomena that was produced during that 5-year period has been hailed as being some of the best ever proof of post-mortem survival (life) after death. It was demonstrated to hundreds of members of the public, as well as a number of scientists both at Scole and abroad in California, USA; Ireland; the Netherlands; Germany; Switzerland and Spain. Both Robin and Sandra have 44 years' intensive involvement and vast practical experience in this specialist Field of Research, and now wish (with the help of a dedicated spirit team) to educate the public - and conduct serious international scientific research - into the development and further demonstration of physical psychic phenomena which includes absolute proof of an Afterlife.

To achieve this, it is vital to purchase and refurbish a specific property that is exactly right to accommodate our ambitious project for the good of mankind and love of Spirit.

Our vast and unique (to us - as members of the Scole Experimental Group) knowledge of the subject needs to be passed on to both the scientific world and to the public at large. Personally, we are retired people and wish simply to give to others some of the wonderful knowledge and practical experience we have ourselves gained over the last 44 years. This is to be a non-profit project, with absolutely no gain for either us or our family.

At the heart of this Project will be the resumption and continuing development - plus eventual demonstration - of experimental sessions similar to those we enjoyed in the 5 years of 'The Scole Experiment' during the 1990's.

oh dear, that crowd funding not going so well.
Bloody cheek of them to ask more money from the grieving, vulnerable people out there!

Guessing "spirit" didn't see that coming (that no one cares)
People are waking up from this cult slowly slowly!
