Shame that this rag is so one sided and refuses to even discuss the idea of holding an alternative view to the agenda that they push.

Almost biggotted against skeptics if you really think about it.

Not to mention the fact that spiritualism in the UK is a vastly "white/old" cult.
And we all know why that is don't we!

Well, I can't say whether or not that may have been the case in the past, but certainly the existing editor, Roy Stemman, is very much a skeptic himself and open to exploring matters of Spiritualism, in particular, from all available angles and reporting and publishing such from a fair and balanced perspective.
Of course, once Psychic News and Two Worlds are amalgamated, Roy will no longer be editor; the June edition is the last issue of Psychic News as a magazine on its own & edited by Roy Stemman - but I imagine he will still have a lot to do with the publication in its new format.
I wonder what they are going to call the new amalgamated version. hmm

Two Worlds was - when I was a subscriber - very much Spiritualism focused, even if that was often of the sometimes-distant past. It would be nice to see PN returning to a similar focus under Tony's leadership but unless there is more Spiritualist news to report then things may not change much.

If, however, the focus were again to become that of Spiritualism and mediumship/healing I'd subscribe again. Smile

Roy Stemman is not a skeptic. He is a stooge, and you know it.
If he really cared about the "industry" he would speak to someone like me and get an alternative view, instead for years he has surrounded himself with woos.

If you know him, tell him to contact me, I am easy enough to find.
If he really is a skeptic, he will have no issues speaking openly and honestly with me. Of course if he is a stooge, he will pretend to not know who I am, and claim he has no interest. Usual story.

At least John Sutton from the Psychic World Newspaper had the balls to talk to me. Yes he is as much of a nutter as anyone else, but he seemingly believes in his crazyness.

What on earth is the matter with you? A flea in your bonnet now about why the editor of Psychic News hasn't been in touch with you personally to ask for your opinion on matters of mediumship/spiritualism? Rolling Eyes

If it means that much to you, there is nothing stopping you contacting the publication with your views or questions or whatever it is you have in mind. You just go through the normal process like everyone else.

Now consider this, I published an article a couple of months ago, that article has had over 180,000 views.
That is more people than read the psychic news, by a long long way. And that is just one article.

So if you want to build your readership, and you happen to cover a really niche subject like spiritualism etc, Then wanting me on your side from a business point of view makes sense.

My site is the UK BIGGEST and most read site on this subject from a skeptical point of view.

But you keep laughing out loud, and while you do, the psychic news will continue to decline, lose readers and die a slow painful death.

I dont chase anyone, not my style. I turn down journalist requests every day.
But they are always from the mainstream media.

When John Sutton contacted me some years ago, a man I really do despise, I agreed, because there was a challenge there. I knew he would try to stitch me up, I was prepared.

He was happy as his publication would get a huge bump in readership. I was happy as I get to take on someone who claims to be an expert, run rings around them and back up everything I claim.

My point here is purely from a business standpoint.
Spiritualism is dying, SNU churches are closing, media interest in mediumship etc is at a 20 year low. Psychic News readership is at a low. EVERYTHING that these people are doing is failing. So why on earth would you not try something different? Why not create some debate, why not embrace the skeptical side of things and try to take it on and prove the woo side of things. Even if it goes nowhere, it creates interest.

But these old white men who run spiritualism have no idea, their thinking is the same as the old white men they took over from and so on.

A few weeks ago I turned down an invitation from the BBC to appear on some morning debate show thing.
But I would happily accept an invite to go to some Spiritualist Church and partake in a debate whereby it is me versus 10 mediums. Psychic News could cover it. They could fill half their next issue with coverage of it. They could film it and stick it on a youtube channel. They could even live stream it.

These are all simple ways to drum up interest in the subject and attract new people.

They could say what they like about me, label the event
"The death of JD and the birth of a new spiritualist"

So much they can do. But instead they just rehash old stories about long dead mediums. Moan about declining attendance in churches, and it is all boring.

So year maybe the head of the Psychic News has no interest in me (despite calling me The Arch Skeptic), but his lack of interest is killing his own publication. Sometimes you have to embrace that which opposes you if you want to survive.

How do they know they would get the same stuff? I have literally only ever given maybe 3 written interviews? Maybe 2?

Shaking Head In Dismay And Disbelief - I coined it myself some years back for my use in response to some of the barmy stuff I was reading on the forum pages at that time. I think it was originally for me on Violet's 'Spiritual Inspiration' website and she found me an emoticon to accompany it, something I've since lost. Sad

SHIDAD - or just shidad - is used in a similar way to LOL - Laugh Out Loud. (or, sometimes somewhat confusingly, 'Lots Of Love'!)

Our favourite troll occasionally takes to using it in a largely-vain attempt to mock me.

The first time I saw LOL typed somewhere it was at the end of a sms on my phone --- i thought it was short for Lots Of Love and still thought it for a long time after. Could be quite embarrasing that!

We had a member on one of my other websites who routinely signed off in that way until one of the others pointed out its regular meaning - I think she was very embarrassed when she learned how LOL was usually used.
