    The new “Pioneer” electronic journal is compiled and edited by Paul J. Gaunt, editor of the Psypioneer Journal and curator of the Britten Memorial Museum, which is housed in the Arthur Findlay College, Stansted Hall.

    This new history journal will be presented much along the lines of Psypioneer, using original researched material wherever possible. Articles and quotes are taken from original sources as they were published at the time.

    The journal will primarily cover the history of the Spiritualists’ National Union and its pioneers. This will be especially beneficial to the educational side of the SNU and to those who wish to become more acquainted with its long history and its workers.

    I'm a subscriber to the publication but find it so sad that we're reading about the 'glory days' of a movement that's moribund....  I only wish we were looking at its history from a different and more healthy perspective.  Crying or Very sad

    I'm not sure that 'moribund' is the correct term to describe it (the Spiritualist movement?)  Yes, certain aspects may have changed from the Victorian parlour entertainment days - but so much for the better, I say!  With the advance in technology, the practice of, and learning about Mediumship nowadays has become far more easily attainable to everyone, not just the elite pocket.  Spiritualism/Mediumship has changed along with the times; it has to, but the concept is still the same.  It's important that newcomers are made aware of its history and the pioneers who contributed towards its development and modern-day availability, and kudos is well deserved to those involved with such publications as Pioneer Journal and other similar organisations for their time and dedication in helping to keep those treasured memories alive today. 

    Spiritualism is not dying.  For many people it is a whole new area for exploration and experimentation - and the guidance and teachings of the pioneers who have gone before is an essential part of their individual journeys.

    We each base our views upon what we see, hear, experience. Since I started 'in the spooks' what I know of Spiritualism and the Spiritualist movement gives me the impression that it's far less alive-and-well than when I first encountered it.

    I may be wrong - I would love to be shown why I'm wrong - but what I'm seeing out here in cyber space are generations who don't have a clue what Spiritualism is about and what it means. If it's as well as some suggest I can't figure why I'm not seeing evidence of it out in this big, bad cyber world where so many individuals spend so much of their time.

    I'm comfortable admitting I don't do church but Spiritualism isn't just church. If a snap-shot of church suggests Spiritualism is alive and well then I'm pleased because I often refer seekers to them. But if Spiritualism does not spread beyond the tight, church forum then what does it say about how alive-and-well it is generally?

    If I were seeing folk looking for what Spiritualism offers, if I were explaining and they were responding positively and looking for more, then I guess I'd hold a different point-of-view.

    Please don't get me wrong. I cut my eye-teeth on Spiritualism and its teachings and philosophy underpin what little I know. My psyche has been changed by what I've learned and from what I've experienced in connection with Spiritualism. I'd LOVE for it to be what it once was and prefereably more than that. I've got no more than 30 years left in this world and before I kick my clogs off for the last time I'd love to be proven wrong. The clock's ticking.....
