Derek Acorah has passed away Empty Derek Acorah has passed away

    Post by Candlelight.kk Sat 4 Jan 2020 - 11:03

Television medium and psychic Derek Acorah has died aged 69, after a short illness

His wife and manager, Gwen Acorah Johnson announced his death on his official Facebook page, adding: "Farewell my love! I will miss you forever!"

Derek was best known for Living TV's Most Haunted.

    Rest in peace, Derek.  candle

I hope the 'vile couple' trolls will keep their distance and respect the sanctity of the mourning period for all his family and friends - and indeed fans, of which he had a great many.

    Condolences to Gwen and family.

Derek was a great entertainer, and was never heard to have a bad word to say about about anybody.  I liked him.

I had no idea of the reason why Derek Acorah left Most Haunted and the bad feeling that continued afterwards, even right up to the time of his death.  I never had any much interest in MH, but after hearing about this it disgusts me.  I would like to read Derek's autobiography to hear the whole story now.  Anyone know where I can get it and whats it called?  I have looked up the books that he has written but none of them say if its his autobiography.

All I really knew of him was his name and his link with TV.

I'd seen just an occasional 'Most Haunted' show on cable TV during our travels round the US, quite surreal once to be watching one set in a location near to our UK home! But I've never seen anything of him on UK TV because I mostly watch dear old Aunty Beeb. What I saw of the show didn't impress me but, then, it was only meant as entertainment after all.

Was he a medium or a psychic?

That is one of those 'black or white' 'label' questions, which requires an 'either/or' - 'label' answer, and one which would perhaps be best answered by the man himself.
Here he is talking a bit of his early life experience, in an interview on Irish TV back in 2009:
(part of a thread salvaged from the old Spiritlove forum).

and here he is, as part of the 3 Mediums tour - (Derek Acorah, Colin Fry & Tony Stockwell) - a live event at the Hammersmith Apollo in London in 2003.
I so wanted to attend this event - held not very far from where I lived - but was very disappointed to find no chance of a ticket as it was booked solid, with all seats having been sold out more or less from it first being advertised.
The ‘3 Mediums Live at the Hammersmith Apollo’ was the paranormal event of 2003, attracting a live audience of over 3000, and excellent viewing figures when broadcast in August 2003 as the highlight of Living TV’s special Paranormal Weekend.

If he's advertised as a medium I'd say it's a fair assumption he thinks of himself as one. I'll take a look at the videos later....

I don't know whether Derek Acorah has a yet published autobiography, but I do know that a while after he had left Most Haunted he did an interview on White Noise online radio, where he spoke quite candidly of his time spent on MH; including graphic accounts of bullying by 'certain individuals' and other such unsavoury goings on during the making of the TV programme, Most Haunted.  At the time, that interview was posted up on the Spiritlove forum along with other White Noise Radio interviews, as it had been a regular thread on SL.  Some other places (including the Bad Psychics forum) had also posted a full transcript of the interview.  However, a short time after the airing of that interview, the White Noise site went down for a short time - and when it came back up, there was a notice where the interview had been, saying they had been forced to take it down by the legal team connected to the MH programme makers - who had also threatened ... given a warning that they would sue anyone found publishing either the interview or the transcript of the interview.
I subsequently took the post down from the Spiritlove forum - and left a notice saying that the interview was still available to listen to privately, and that if any of the registered forum members were interested, to let me know by PM and I would send it to them privately by email.  This was the case for some time afterward, and during that time a new member registered on the forum, but never posted, simply PM-ing me to ask where they could get the interview. I had no idea who that person might be, and they were not very forthcoming when asked, and so I declined their request.
Some time after, one of the long-term members (known and trusted by me, as I knew that member personally) requested I email it to them, which I did, sent as an attachment by email.  When it arrived at their end,
    - the attachment had been wiped clean! What a Face  schtum censored
I then went back to the place where I had it kept privately hidden, to try and re-send it to that person - only to find that it had also been wiped from there! angry   All that was left was a shell inside the interview container.
After that, another anonymous, non-posting new member registered on Spiritlove, with the same sole PM request asking if I knew where 'the DA interview' could be found.
So ... make of all that what you will.

PS:  All that is to be found now on what was the White Noise online radio, once full of interesting interviews and such - if you look it up now, all you will hear on there is - literally, just a recording of white noise.

alienpop  PPS:  At least I think that's what the radio site was called ... it's such a long time ago now.
    Definitely White [something] Radio ...

Well that was a curious set of events and outcomes, kk......  I don't know what to make of cyber material disappearing like that.  Particularly 'sensitive' stuff.

Nice videos - thank you.   Smile   Re-posted: ALF

    With grateful thanks, kk.

Derek Acorah came over as a very nice man and, yes, he was a medium based on what I saw.  Nice to see dear Colin Fry - 'Lincoln' all those years ago in the NAS - with him and Tony Stockwell.  Although I had no association with Colin I was fond of him.  Met him once briefly when he gave a demonstration in my home town.  Jeez that seems such a long time ago when I was a little involved in the church scene. Sad when he passed because we lost a nice guy.  Where did those years go?  Crying or Very sad

Yes one does now need to be registered to view many forums, kk.  Sorry, I'd not thought about that.   Embarassed
