Was Queen Victoria a Spiritualist?

In June 1837, at the the age of only 18, Victoria became the Queen of Great Britain and Ireland; and later also the Empress of India.
Until the current Queen Elizabeth came to the throne, Victoria was the longest-ever serving monarch in British history. She was bereft with grief when her German husband, Prince Albert, died at the age of only 42, and there were reports that she tried to contact him on the Other Side, through mediums and seances. But was this true?
It is a strange tale that deserves telling, despite the prejudices against spiritualism amongst those who surrounded her back then.
