I came across this wonderful site which has a great deal of information on different species of wildlife, in particular around London. Click on the "Wildlife and Nature" tag at the top then "Species".

I think Gerald Durrell needs no introduction (died 30 January 1995). I remember reading his books and absolutely loving them, instructive, humorous, touching..., they had it all.

It's not good being wildlife if you're in Charlotte and anywhere near the Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Watch out for low-flying planes. Ouch!

The website of the British Wildlife Centre in Surrey has lots of information.

In particular, visit the Keeper's blog:

    Beautiful photos.
I love the red fox, the Eagle owl and most especially the "British Wildlife Centre 2016 Photo of the Year", Wildcat and kittens, by Bob Matthews.

Brings back some wonderful memories ... Makes me feel rather homesick. Wildlife Icon_cry County Wicklow is my homeland back in Ireland. Not had a chance to get back home for quite a while now. Far too long. I miss my beautiful Wicklow. Wildlife Msn_sad

    I know the feeling, Candlelight.

The "home" of my childhood no longer exists, though the house where I was born still stands.

    Wildlife Empty Foxes

    Post by Misty Thu 1 Jun 2017 - 14:01

We often see foxes around our way now in the middle of the day.  Not long ago we met one sitting in the middle of the road, we had to stop the car because he didnt seem very bothered about moving.  Luckily it was not a very busy side road.  Eventually moved away after blowing the horn a few times, but just very casually sauntered across the road and into a front garden.
I do wonder if he is still alive today.  Might not be so lucky the next time!
