Lucky Spiritlinker - going to see Billy Cook. Hope it goes well for you, Spiritlinker.
Please let us know afterwards how you get on.
I've not had a private reading with Billy Cook, but have seen him demonstrate many times, and have learnt much from his Open Circles. An excellent teacher, and he brings his own brand of humour to every occasion.

Looking forward to your "review". xxx

I will feedback to you Candlelight , counting the days Rolling Eyes I have only seen Billy once at a demo, but it was difficult to assess how he works as he joked a lot. He started off by telling us all he was mental to set the tone. Everyone was amused by him. I guess it sets the right vibration for the spirits Rolling Eyes

I decided to see him for a private sitting, as I have heard so much about him. So I want to see whether he works for me.

The reading was not what I expected. Some stuff was accurate, but some not. It was a learning experience for me.

There seems to be a contradiction here which is troubling me. Spiritlinker's opinion of BC is based on what I assume was a disappointing reading for her.
On the other hand, Candlelight has nothing but praise for him. Am I right? The two don't sit well together and I wonder how this came about. Could it simply be that he had an off-day or what? Smile

    Hi Feather,
I do believe, from my own experience, that what whereas a good medium may bring through a wonderfully validating messaging to one person, another person may come away disappointed from that same medium on that same day.  This is not necessarily to say the medium is not "good".  Remember, it is not the medium that is giving the message, your loved ones are bringing their presence to you through the medium, meeting half way, so to speak.  Different mediums have different "abilities" in connecting with spirit, and indeed work for spirit at different levels and in different "fields of expertise".  Spirit will seek out (be attracted to) the medium who can best work for them (the loved one trying to make contact) e.g. a medium who works 'clairaudiently' as opposed to 'clairvoyantly' might be easier for that loved one to connect with, and in the same way a living person may often be "drawn" to seek out a particular medium (the loved one(s) in spirit may even have a 'guiding' involvement there).

Furthermore, you can have a genuine medium with a natural ability to  wonderful confirming messages on a one-to-one basis, but that same medium may not have the skills to run workshops, teaching others or to demonstrate their knowledge and abilities to a public audience.

As I said above, "I've not had a private reading with Billy Cook, but have seen him demonstrate many times, and have learnt much from his Open Circles. An excellent teacher, and he brings his own brand of humour to every occasion."
I have also been to one of his workshops (run also with Gordon Smith). Both have very different ways of 'working with and for spirit' and this day alone proved invaluable to me, where each in their respective ways showed us not only what a medium does, but more importantly how, and why.  When you know the why, only then can you understand the what and the how of mediumship.

I just need to add here, that spiritlinker has since come with me to one of Billy Cook's open circles, an invaluable place of learning, where students of all levels can practice and learn to develop their natural gifts, helped and encouraged by Billy,
and I'm hoping spiritlinker will give you her own account and let you know her opinion here.

    Feather,

You are right, I came away disappointed. The reading was definitely not up to scratch in my view. BC is rated highly by a number of people, but I cannot say the same. I have seen a number of mediums, and feel that I am able to judge who works for me. I believe there was more to it than having a bad day. The start of the reading was offputting, and I was shocked by it. I am sorry I am not going into detail.

I have seen him in open circle, and think he is a good tutor, but would not return for a private sitting. I have seen better mediums.

I have a friend who saw Gordon Smith, and said that everything he told her was inaccurate. So maybe it is about some mediums work with some people, and not with others. I have had a number of mediums recommended from demonstrations as excellent, but then when I see them I think otherwise. However, I have seen some good mediums(and don''t come from the all mediums are rubbish camp) but they are few and far between.

Seeing BC was a learning experience for me, I had heard the hype, and wanted to see what it was about Crying or Very sad I would not have known if I hadn't seen him.

Thanks, Candlelight and Spiritlinker. I understand what you are each saying. The success of a reading depends on many things which all have to come together if a good reading is to follow.Don't give up on me. Keep teaching. I'm still learning! Embarassed

I have sat in open circles with Billy Cook and have had several readings from him. I have also seen him demonstrate many times. He is an excellent medium but the readings for me were not that accurate. In the open circles Billy interrpreted what I saw which I felt was incorrect. But said nothing. However as I was an inexperienced and a fledgling at the time I felt it was best just to listen quietly. The people I gave messages to who I bumped into again at other circles confirmed that what I had originally said was correct.
I believe that I am not on Billy's wave-length and therefore know now that it would be difficult to sit with him again. At the time I was trying to find my best way of working. He has a good sense of humour and helps a lot of people and has brought comfort to many people as well as spreading the word of the spiritual world.
All mediums have a different way of working and as you become more experienced you learn what is best for you. What is important is to be honest and not to let the ego take over. I am forever learning and will quietly continue my path of learning.

Hello, zanne. It's good to have you here. Smile
Do you ever get an instant feeling of repulsion or attraction when you meet someone for the 1st time?
I know I do. I'm a bit ashamed of that but I can't seem to stop it. Why am I saying this here? Well, it may be relevant to the discussion about various mediums and whether they work for you. Would it not be easier for a medium to give you a good reading if the vibes were favourable? The feelings I get can be mild or very strong. What do you think, zanne? Maxine? Candlelight?

    Welcome zanne. 😁

    Are you a medium yourself?

Feather, i think that it is quite natural to get those sort of reactions when first meeting someone, but do you find that your first reaction is always right, or does that change with time when you get to know the person more?

It's usually right. If I feel very bad vibes it's sometimes as a result of an attitude the person has displayed or certain things he/she has said which show me the personality. If it's bad, I avoid getting any closer.
