Tony Stockwell, in his recent Newsletter, has quoted a piece from the life of a man I would truly love to have met during his lifetime - a great medium, Albert Best (who also happened to be an influential mentor to (IMO) another great medium of today, Gordon Smith).
I have the book in question,
'Best of Both Worlds', written by Ros Cattenach, who was for many years Secretary at the London Spiritual Mission, where in her time such position allowed her the opportunity to meet and know many of the most gifted and respected Spiritualist Mediums who passed through its historic doors over the years. This being my local Spiritualist Church, I feel myself lucky and privileged to have known this lovely lady - and remember a conversation I once had with her where we talked about some of those mediums that had visited the LSM, and particularly the bit about Albert Best and how he had the knack of bringing through to a sitter the most evidential detail from the spirit communicator - unique pieces of information that absolutely no living person could possibly have any knowledge of, and something that would convince the living recipient without a shadow of a doubt that this information was indeed being brought to them from beyond the grave. I did not know at the time that she had been planning to write a book about him - indeed, she may not even have known herself at that time, as one of the things brought up in that discussion was the lack of areas of reference giving details on the life and works of this great natural medium.
Tony Stockwell doesn't know this, but when I was fortunate enough to have been given a message through him whilst in the audience at a Demonstration of Clairvoyance held at London's Olympia (Mind, Body & Spirit Exhibition), on that occasion I got exactly that which he speaks of here .... that one vital piece of unique and detailed convincing evidence that I so needed at that particular time in my life. At that time, I already, through my own experiences, knew and accepted that life continues and that communication was possible and does indeed occur - but I still needed that 'something extra' - some real tangible, indisputable proof that the spirit communicator was who they purported to be - and I got it in a most surprising way, and without any form of contribution from me whatsoever.
So, I am not in any way surprised to read Tony's choice of example, and to read his words here:
As most of you know, teaching and the nurturing of mediumistic abilities are my passions. Without the great teachers who have helped me on my 30 year path I would not have experienced the wonderful connections that I have shared with Spirit.
Let's not forget the amazing Mediums who inspired me and thousands of others through the years.
I came across a book on my shelf the other day and this excerpt is an example of the exacting and detailed connections given by outstanding Medium and Inspirer, Albert Best.
