Some of my Photobucket photos seem to have disappeared but without the usual Photobucket square to say it's been moved or deleted.
If they're not back soon on their own I'll have hard work to go through the threads and put them back in again... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I've just been through and some of lar-lar, Elly and Candlelights pictures have gone too ... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Probably some of the others too, though I've seen several of Feather's which seem ok.

Hi Stardust,
I know, it's so frustrating when that happens. I had a YouTube video that just disappeared with no explanation. When I went back into YouTube to try and put it in again, it said that it was no longer available, had been withdrawn. I would have thought if we have already captured something at our end it's ours for keeps, but obviously not! The originator still seems to have control over the URL.

Well I deleted some pictures from my Photobucket file then realized that meant those in the vicinity had moved -
I'm not sure if that is sufficient to delete them from forum posts but I was reassured when I saw mine weren't the only ones which had gone.
Nevertheless I did edit some of my posts in the forums and delete pictures where they didn't seem essential (like chocolates and champagne !). :D

I sometimes get that trying to come into here - and with spiritlove (same hosting company) - but Voldsy's is ok for me at the moment. I think it might be something to do with the search engine you use, some more compatible than others (but then what do I know). sometimes can't get in by searching online but can with my favourites, then other times it's the other way around. Keep trying Stardust, seems ok for me at the moment anyway.

I do like the image of Voldsy above. Haha

Now I'm in but nobody seems to have posted since yesterday (except Candlelight) so has everyone been having problems here?

Oh dear. At times it's running ever so slow and seems to take for ever to get in, change threads, etc.
Just recently had notice that the Support Forum will be making some essential changes to all the Freeforums over the next couple of weeks - and that Support forum will not be available at intervals on and off during that time. So, that's what I've put it down to. They have apologised in advance for the inconvenience - which may I do likewise.

If you continue to have problems, though, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Suddenly this morning, instead of the horizontal advertisements, we have three web links placed vertically on the left of the screen, taking up a lot of space so we have to scroll down before we can even see the forum index.
I know we can zap the ads completely but they don't usually bother me that much.
I don't understand why they can't line them up horizontally, as before. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Stardust, this is a configuration by the Hosts, where the Google ads are contained in the Welcome box, which is only visible if you are not logged in and viewing as a Guest. You will find that once you've logged in as a member that box is no longer visible and the view is as before. Before today there was an option, a choice whether to hide the Welcome box explaining that you are viewing as a guest, and this is the option I had chosen - to keep it hidden. However, now the hosts have chosen to keep it there as a permanent feature, and this change is consistent with all Freeforum hosted forums. It also serves as a safety measure for unsolicited and unwanted ads and links finding their way onto the forum.

Post by Stardust on Wed 19 Apr 2017, 21:28

Hi Candlelight and thanks for your reply. :D

Yes, I know the hosts put up ads in exchange for the forum being free but they could use the space better. I've been on several other forums today, including Enlightenment which I think is run by the same host, but none of them have this problem, only Light After Life. I'm logged-in now (else I couldn't post) and I still have to scroll down before reaching the index.

I wasn't referring to the Welcome Box, I don't mind that, especially if it keeps out unwanted ads.

What I'm saying is that much less space would be taken up by the host displaying the Google ads horizontally (as before) and not vertically and we wouldn't have to keep scrolling down and wasting precious seconds every time we change pages.

I wasn't aiming the remark at you directly, Candlelight, but at the host, FreeForums - though I expect as it's your forum you're the only one who can pass the message on.

If they won't change it back, I'll just have to add another nuisance badge to my beret. Sad

Just to let you know that this forum is listed for an upgrade within the next 2 to 3 weeks, which means that the style of the board may change somewhat from its present look, but we will be able to enjoy some new features that we don't have at present - so don't get too much of a shock if you turn on one day and things look a little unfamiliar for a while. I will try to keep the style to as near as possible to what we're all used to, and as is the case now, you will have a choice of styles to set to your own personal preference.

(I'm a little perturbed that we might lose our toolbar as above, with the Google and YouTube features - as this is what seems to have happened with other Freeforum upgrades). I'll do my utmost to make sure that this doesn't happen.

Hi Misty. You can change your time view through your Control Panel. Click on Board Preferences and depending on where you are based, set your time to your time zone. (The board is set to GMT) Then click in the box (or circle rather) for DST. That should automatically set the right time when the hour goes forward or backwards.

I will put the Chat Box up for a trial period only - see if people want it. Personally, I find it a bit annoying because I can't get it to go down the bottom of the board, and I think it just gets in the way stuck up the top there on every page. But we'll see how it goes anyway. If the majority of users like it we'll keep it - or vice versa. Going up now. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Portal has disappeared now. (You can only access it if you're logged in) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] I've just checked with support and so far one other person has the same problem. They reckon it's because some new features have been introduced - but who wants these new features if we can't have our 'old' features working the way they should.

I'm annoyed. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Bit of a problem ... I am going to have to change the style of the inside of the forums because I've just noticed that the post date and details don't show up in the posts. The text is in black (over black) and you can't see it unless you run your mouse over it. I have tried with some other black styles too, and it's the same thing. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] I don't want to change the style altogether but I will experiment with different insides and see how it goes.

We seem to have a problem with the Quoting on the forum. It puts the new post inside the quoted one. For that reason I have changed the style to see if the fault is with the style, but no it its happening with every style I try.

It really is a nuisance because it's hard to tell who has said what. I am trying to get it fixed.
