I don't know for sure, Sparkler, but there are many accounts which suggest they can.

I love storms. Don't get many here usually but we've had several the last few days.
Leaning on the windowsill watching the spectacular ballet in the night sky.
Crackling yellow, orange, white, or mauve whiplashes of lightning, accompanied by the booming voice of the thunder.
The rain singing its chorus and sending droplets twirling through the air or gliding gracefully down the window.
Even the trees wave and bow and the wind whistles through their branches for pure joy in joining in the show.
happyheart

Yes, storms can be spectacular to watch from a safe vantage point but, for many, they are also deadly.

Agreed!  Shocked The slightest rumble - and I'm under the table. scared

I once got caught in the mother of all thunder and lightning storms - back home in Ireland. My friend and I out cycling, and the nearest and only shelter around was in the Graveyard!  wary The Protestant graveyard at that! And .................. it was reputed to be haunted.  crybaby Three whole hours stuck in there!

What a wonderful poetic way to describe it Stardust. Almost makes me look forward to something that I would normally want to avoid at all cost! You have an extraordinary way of bringing colour and life into an ordinary gray day. Bless you for that.  happyheart
