    Tarot Reading Empty Tarot Reading

    Post by Candlelight.kk Sat 13 May 2017 - 21:36

    30 Dec 2010 02:03 am

Last night I was woken from a deep sleep by this almighty crash, and next thing one of my cats jumped up on the bed, ran across it, jumping on me in the process and then off the other side. Too tired to investigate at the time, but it was obvious the cat must have knocked something down in the room (and probably scared herself witless in the process).

When I got up this morning, I discovered that she had indeed knocked down a jewellery box that was on top of a chest of drawers (had 4 little drawers in it and 2 glass doors either side, plus a flap on top that opens into a little mirror and a ballerina pops up and goes around while a little tune plays (if its been wound up - it hadn't been so that didn't happen). Anyhow, amongst the jewellery scattered around on the floor was a pack of tarot cards, spread out slightly on the floor with just one card upturned - the Nine of Wands. The cards had been wrapped in a cloth and inside a box with a flap-up lid which had been on top of the jewellery/music box. I never use the Tarot cards, they were given to me as a present about 3 years ago and have sat in that same place ever since. I went to gather up the cards to put them back in the box and as I did so two more cards fell out of the pack and one by one landed face up on the floor - the Knight of Wands with the Page of Swords following. Seemed to me as though there may just be some significance in this occurrance - just 3 cards, a 3-card reading with the Tarot is often given as : past, present and future(?) So, out of sheer curiosity, I looked up their meanings on the internet and this is what I found. I have put my own interpretation into the explanations that I found, which I feel is pretty much significant to and representative of my particular situation at the moment. I'm just keeping this here as a sort of diary entry at this particular time.

First card turned face up (Past): Nine of Wands

    Second: (Present?): Knight of Wands

    Third: (Future?): Page of Swords

    The Nine of Wands
When you are hanging in there, persevering under pressure and holding on despite the forces pulling at the other end of your rope, expect the Nine of Wands to appear in your Tarot reading. This card is either a welcome sign that you are truly holding your own in a long-term project or that you are needlessly hanging on to a point of view that is past its time.

A man stands alone, clutching his wooden staff. His posture is erect with a wary look on his face as he glances over his shoulder. Standing behind him are eight wooden staffs. They seem to be firmly planted. His expression tells us that they are somehow responsible for the bandage that is wrapped around his forehead. He has been in battle. He has suffered a wound. But he is still standing, alert and as straight and strong as those other wands aligned behind him. Beyond this fence of wooden staffs is a pristine and peaceful landscape of verdant green hills and endless blue skies.

This is the rare Tarot card that exists in three dimensional space. What that means is that the man in the card may have those wands as his arsenal for a battle and the battle may be taking place outside of the card! Or the wounded man is leaving a world beyond the card and is only stopping for a moment of rest before battling to break beyond into the peaceful landscape deep within the card. This Tarot card reveals a pause without surrender in a battle that you fill with persistence.

Wands represent our creativity. The walking staff is a visual metaphor for the thing we carry with us that makes our journey through life easier. The wounded man is you, battling. Whether it is a divorce, office politics, or a nosy neighbor, the battle has not beaten you when the Nine of Wands appears. The placid landscape itself may represent boredom and the wounded man represents you wanting to step out of the Tarot card and into real life. Find your creative voice and do battle by challenging your own excellence.

The Nine of Wands in the past position indicates that you had intense struggles and a dogged persistence to get where you are now. Often, people who are done with a struggle want to forget about it and are happy to move on. The Nine of Wands in the past position reminds you to know and trust your own strength and determination. It is where you came from, after all.

    The Knight of Wands
Are you about to make a bold move? Has a project assigned to you been executed with an impressive new approach? Are you thinking outside the box and getting noticed at school or on the job? Has a creative inspiration caused you to get to work on your masterpiece? Is a solution to customer problems inspiring you to start your own business? The Knight of Wands would likely show up in your Tarot reading under such circumstances, as it is the card of sudden solutions arriving in a flurry of inspiration.

Across an arid desert landscape a charging light brown stallion carries the Knight. He has on a full suit of armor and an outer shawl decorated in the colors and patterns that match the other Wand Court Cards (Page, Queen, and King of Wands). On his helmet is a red plume that resembles flames as it flaps in the wind caused by his speeding horse. He has plumes on the armor surrounding his arms that match in color and wind-blown ferocity. With the same arm he tightly clutches his horse's rein. In his right arm he carries the walking staff known in the Tarot deck as a Wand. He raises it above his head as his horse charges on.

Fire is a metaphor for speed. Without a flame being lit, this card is on fire! The heat of the desert, the cloudless sky, the red headed knight racing to complete a task, the fiery plumage, it is all a card of immediacy and, with the Suit of Wands, creativity. The Tarot was invented long before electricity was harnessed. Had it been a more recent development, you can bet that the Knight of Wands would be pictured with a light bulb over his head! This Knight is riding his horse fast because of a sudden inspiration. Something can be solved and it is up to the Knight to get the solution out to the world. In the Tarot, Knights deliver, most often for the greater good.

The Knight of Wands in the present position indicates that a new idea or creative inspiration is about to consume you. This could indicate a love obsession, especially if the reality of you and a certain someone getting together would shock or scandalize the neighborhood, friends and family. The Knight of Wands appears in the present position when you are strongly considering a relationship with a much younger or older man, or a relationship that is experimental in nature. The Knight's inspiration is a flood of intense connections of many ideas and feelings that challenge tradition and the social order.

    The Page of Swords
Have you ever spoken truth to the powerful and did not even realize the challenge you had presented them? Are you learning the complex jargon of a new field and comprehending what a new you could look like when you master this language? Have you looked at the reasons you should stay or leave a relationship? Is an employment situation requiring you to be less than honest about what the company can or cannot do? All of these circumstances bring about a Tarot reading that includes the Page of Swords laid out before you.

Page cards represent a fresh, demanding challenge to your position in the world. The Page of Swords exists to remind you that your integrity is the sharpest weapon in your arsenal. No matter how experienced you are in the world, from time to time, problems arise that are truly novel situations. When your policy is sticking to the truth, these conundrums are simple to resolve.

A young man stands alone on a grassy, craggy landscape under billowing clouds amidst a blue sky. He is dressed efficiently and sports a short ponytail that blows in the wind. Looking in the direction that the wind blows from, he holds a large sword with both hands elevated so that the handle of the weapon aligns with his shoulder. The sword points up, angling slightly away from him and in most Tarot decks, at least the top one-third of the sword is not in the picture, emphasizing the Page's place in the foreground of the Tarot reading.

Swords are cards of words and ideas. Truth and justice are the highest ideals. We all politely nod in their direction and live up to them when it is easy, but the Page of Swords shows a challenging wind blowing towards you in a new way. Court cards (Pages, Knights, Queens and Kings) all depict an individual alone. You will be isolated in your moment of deliberation. The Page of Swords is a card that can underscore your character through your actions for years to come. The outcome may not be pretty, but the strength to your personhood that the result of this challenge brings is unmistakable.

The Page of Swords is most likely to represent another person when it appears in the future position. This could indicate a pregnancy with a child on its way soon. A new love interest that is younger than you could be giving you some important news when you least expect it. If your lover is much older than you, the Page of Swords most definitely represents you with something to tell him.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
and from a different web page:

    Nine of Wands (past)

Here we have tremendous power of the creative imagination and with this the final struggle before the goal is reached. The creative spirit in human beings cannot be controlled or bent to our will, it is a force that cannot be shaken, it is our strength and stability. Our vitality, radiance and light. The happiness and joy of being honest to oneself, the will to live is at the same time the ability to inspire others. Although it is a state of exhaustion - take this final challenge - you are almost home. With hope and being open to knowledge you can complete this journey. A mystery comes up, detachment of the psyche, understanding is happening. Negative: Cruelty through extreme egoistically self-detachment.

    Knight of Wands (present)

He has the role as a messenger because he is too young to possess a character. Going on a journey to develop the exuberant and adventurous qualities, always in motion, perpetually seeking new challenges, immensely imaginative and creative he is the first to take up a new idea, a new fashion or a new lifestyle. He needs excitement and attention and an occupation just for the time. This trustworthy friend has the energy to devote to organizing projects, he is good at getting a team going and works with ferocity on his inventiveness.

    Page of Swords (future)

Here we meet the nascent and unformed beginnings of the element of air, to formulate our own ideas and concepts and to express these to others. Yet this original and independent thought seems to be childlike and comes out of curiosity but this use of mental power is important to gain respect. Normally he has been accustomed to accept the views of others but he gets into action when he sees injustice and is devoted to a companion in whom he believes.

I have since discovered another site

The answer lies in the middle card of the three card spread. We will use that as the focus point for our reading. Imagine that the two cards that flank or provide the border to the middle card, in some sense, create the middle card. Their interactions transform into the middle card. In other words, the middle card is the outcome card.

where it talks of a 3-card spread not in the terms of past, present and future, but rather the main card being the present situation (which could mean the first card that was lying on the floor - the only one turned face up at the time) - could be read as the 'main card' or the middle card - and then the other two which fell together and turned up only when I was putting the cards back into the box - being the two 'flank' cards which if read with the main card give further meaning to it.

It's late now and I'm tired, but I'm going to rearrange them to make the reading in this way too, just to see if it still has some meaning to my circumstances.

I must say that is quite fascinating stuff, Candlelight. Now--you know me. I'm not into Tarot reading but the amount of detail surprises me. It makes me want to try it for myself. That's not happened before. It seems to me there's much there which fits with your life. What do you think yourself?

I was kind of thinking that myself too... but what I am more interested in is ... how it came about, i.e. the cards falling like that without any intention on my part to refer to them, as such.
This happened once before, where I had opened of the drawers of the jewellery box to get out a piece of jewellery and in doing so - knocked against the box and it fell on the floor. One card had 'jumped' out of the pack and lay face up on the floor (whereas all the others were downturned). It just so happens this was the day I was going to MBS in Olympia to see Gary Mannion (and Tony Stockwell) - the first occasion.
I can't now remember which card it was that had turned up, but obviously on the day remembered, and at the MBS there was a stall with someone giving Tarot readings. I didn't ask for a reading there, but asked the woman who was doing it if she could tell me what that particular card meant. I do remember being quite amazed at the significance of whatever it was she told me - and another person on the stall had joined in and added further to it.

    Interesting KK

I would have done the same thing as you, although I got rid of my Tarot cards years ago, I only have Angel cards now but when if a card falls out of the pack when I am shuffling them, then I look at the meaning of the card. I don't like Tarot, I used them once and did a reading for my mum and saw something in my mind that made me get rid of the cards straight after. Angels cards are very positive cards...I just like the pretty pictures lol  Mr. Green

I have Angel cards too. They were a present (you know that you ought not buy your own Angel cards - they should be given to you apparently). I have used them for myself and some close friends, but tbh I don't really feel they give the whole picture. Feels like there's something missing. All too nicey-nicey for me I guess.  Mr. Green But that's me ...
It's a bit like asking someone does this outfit look good on me ... and the person saying yes (to make you feel good), when what they're really thinking is God, you look like a dog's dinner. If I ask that question of someone, it's not to feel good, it's because I want a straight honest answer, warts and all.  Mr. Green

I did a tarot reading last week but nothing exciting came of it. Very disappointing. It wasn't a deck of traditional cards though, I'll have to dig those out and have a go like Candlelight, that was very interesting reading. Do you use them often, Candlelight?

Same goes for Tarot cards. Mine were a gift, used them once and ended up giving them away, I wouldn't keep them in the house. I now know that what I saw was part of what was already happening to my dad, we just didn't know it yet. I looked at the cards and knew that we were going to lose Dad but he was seemingly well then, six months later he was diagnosed with cancer, six months later than that, he died. It freaked me out and for a time I thought that I had tempted fate or something silly like that but I know that the cards were showing me the result of what was already happening. He would have had the cancer at the time of the reading. So because of that, I steer clear of Tarot and stick to the Angel cards. The one positive thing about it is that it did give me prior warning, it was still a shock when we were told he had cancer but I was able to cope and be strong for my mum. I was able to give a lot of time to him in those six months because in my heart, I knew that he wasn't going to make it..maybe this wouldn't have been the case wihout the reading? I can only guess.

I get some decent results from Angel cards. I read for my auntie a few years back and saw the image of a house by the sea in my mind. She has since moved house and it is next to a beach in Australia. I can't explain it or how it happens. I just look at the pictures and sometimes a picture or a thought pops into my head. I try not to look at the meanings of the cards from the book, I tend to try and go with what I get in my head, if anything. I find it all very interesting!
