Psychic Sylvia Browne predicted the Coronavirus in her 2008 book Empty Psychic Sylvia Browne predicted the Coronavirus in her 2008 book

    Interesting ....

In her book, End of Days: Predictions and Prophecies About the End of the World, psychic Sylvia Browne (who died in 2013) appears to have correctly and timely predicted the Coronavirus outbreak which is plaguing the world right now, in the very year of her prediction.

CHAPTER SEVEN - THE END OF DAYS THROUGH MY EYES:
"In around 2020 a severe pneumonia-like illness will spread throughout the globe, attacking the lungs and the bronchial tubes and resisting all known treatments.  Almost more baffling than the illness itself will be the fact that it will suddenly vanish as quickly as it arrived, attack again ten years later, and then disappear completely."

Also in that same book (published in 2008) we find the quote:
“The year 2020 will mark the end of the U.S. presidency and the executive branch of the government. Let’s just say the American public will finally be fed up by then and leave it at that.”

Similarity also is being attributed to one of Nostradamus's predictions, back in 1555, in his magnum opus Les Propheties:

One of these quatrains, Century 2:53, could be a reference to the coronavirus, according to online claims.

The great plague of the maritime city will not cease until there be avenged the death of the just blood, condemned for a price without crime, of the great lady outraged by pretense.

“The great plague of the maritime city
“Will not cease until there be avenged the death
“Of the just blood, condemned for a price without crime,
“Of the great lady outraged by pretence.”

With the Nostradamus predictions, all the quatrains are so obscure that its always "could be" so-and-so when an event happens, and that "could be" could be attributed to lots of different happenings.

That Sylvia Brown prediction is pretty much spot on for what is happening with the corona virus though. eek
And we only have 10 years to see if it attacks again and then disappears completely.
We still have to see what happens with it at the present time and if it will suddenly vanish as quickly as it arrived.  Lets hope that proves to be the case.

As far as her US presidency prediction goes, that could mean just about anything. Rolling Eyes

    Post by Candlelight.kk Sat 29 Feb 2020 - 23:42

Not forgetting that the same Sylvia Browne "predicted" her own death, on national television in 2003, declaring with absolute surety that she would die at the age of 88 - the reality being that she died in 2013 at the tender age of 77, only eleven years out. Rolling Eyes
The same year, on the Montel Williams Show, she told grieving parents of Shawn Hornbeck that their 11-year-old missing son was dead. He was found alive four years later.
In 2004, she wrongly told the mother of missing Amanda Berry that her daughter was dead. In actual fact, Amanda was found very much alive in May 2013, along with two other girls.  All three had been kidnapped and held for many years in captivity.

Yes, it's interesting to see that the current Coronavirus outbreak could well fit around that 'prediction' she made to occur 'around 2020', but no doubt as with the Nostradamus predictions, there will be many folk around who may be in possession of that book with her published predictions, just waiting to jump on something to make it fit.

Here is a selection of some other predictions also published in that 2008 book:

    • "Sometime between 2008 and 2020 I see a sitting president dying in office of a heart attack.  The vice president who assumes the presidency will stun the world by announcing his intentions to declare war on North Korea in light of his accurate belief that they actually are in possession of weapons of mass destruction.  His efforts to rally congressional and international support for this declaration of war will be resoundingly unsuccessful and the source of enormous alarm, and he'll be assassinated before his term ends.

    • In 2010, diabetes will be significantly reduced and ultimately cured through brilliant advancements in the use of proteins.

    • Microchips implanted in the base of the brain will restore healthy signals between the brain, the muscular system, and the neurological system, putting an end to paralysis and Parkinson's disease no later than 2012.

    • In 2013 or 2014, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis (MS) and ALS (Lou Gebrig's disease) will be defeated through some highly specialised use of the human growth hormone.

    • No later than 2020, thanks to the development of a synthetic material that perfectly duplicates the human eardrum, we'll see a virtual end to deafness.

She also has a lot to say about global warming and actually gives some good advice on what we can do as individuals to help protect the environment, etc - but of course one doesn't need to be psychic to foresee the detrimental global threats to our environment if human beings continue to pollute and destroy the atmosphere as we are doing at present.

Psychic Sylvia Browne predicted the Coronavirus in her 2008 book Empty Re: Psychic Sylvia Browne predicted the Coronavirus in her 2008 book

The Daily Mail has an article on this today. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8104195/Late-psychic-Sylvia-Brownes-eerily-prophetic-words-spark-claims-predicted-coronavirus.html

    About Sylvia Browne it says

However fact-checking website Snopes.com pointed out that the SARS virus had occurred a few years before she published the book and might have inspired the passage.
But she was nearly as infamous for her repeated false or discredited predictions.
In 2002, she claimed that the kidnapped 11-year-old Shawn Hornbeck was abducted by a Latino man with dreadlocks and dark skin, but when Hornbeck was found alive in 2007, it turned out he was kidnapped by a white man.
In 2004, Browne told the mother of Amanda Berry that her kidnapped daughter was dead, going as far as to suggest her body had been disposed of in water and that DNA from the killer might be found on her jacket.
Berry's mother died two years later, and Berry was found alive with two other abducted women.
Browne made numerous other significant errors while predicting the outcomes of abductions, and she even got the age she would die at wrong by 11 years.

    About Nostradamus it says

Some theorists have claimed the French astrologer Michel de Nostredame, who wrote about the onset of 'diverse plagues' that 'will be upon mankind', also saw the virus approaching.
In his 1555 book Les Prophetie the physician wrote: 'From the vain enterprise honour and undue complaint,
'Boats tossed about among the Latins, cold, hunger, waves. Not far from the Tiber the land stained with blood,
'And diverse plagues will be upon mankind.'

DM also mentions "COVID-19 was foretold in author Dean Koontz's book The Eyes of Darkness in 1981."

It was a fictional novel containing an unusual coincidence.  Not a prediction per se, just a very spooky coincidence.

See Reuters Fact Check:  Partly false claim: a 1981 book predicted the coronavirus 2019 outbreak
A theory widely shared on social media claims that American author Dean Koontz predicted the 2019-2020 Coronavirus outbreak in 1981. Posts featuring the cover of “The Eyes of Darkness” book and a page in which Koontz allegedly describes the coronavirus in his novel have at least 39,000 shares (examples here and here) and at least 2,000 retweets on Twitter (examples here and here) as of February 27, 2020.

Most of the claims circulating on social media show the book’s cover and a page in the book mentioning a virus called “Wuhan-400”. The widely circulated photo of Koontz’s book page includes some highlighted text reading: “They call the stuff ‘Wuhan-400’ because it was developed at their RDNA labs outside of the city of Wuhan, and It was the four-hundredth viable strain of man-made microorganisms created at that research center”.

Ah I see..... So-called predictions are wheeled out at such times it seems. Mother Shipton and that guy whose name escapes me are other regular seers who are said to have predicted the future.

Even if they had - and I'm far from persuaded of that - so what? Neutral What are we supposed to draw from such claimed predictions? What value would a proven one have anyway?

Perhaps one 'value' might be that it does bring reason to ponder a little as to where the authors/psychic 'predictors' got their information/inspiration from at the time of writing, which played a part in their penning such  scenarios for their novels/predictions...
e.g. dreams?, visions?, sudden clear, strong 'inspirational ideas?, premonitions?....

ariel wrote:It was a fictional novel containing an unusual coincidence.  Not a prediction per se, just a very spooky coincidence.
There have been many such 'spooky coincidences' recorded throughout history, some of which have proven to be uncannily accurate.  Here is just a known sample:

Link: - Ten Predictions That Really Came True
All through history, there have been startling accounts of people foreseeing the future, accounts that unnervingly hit or miss the mark. From Nostradamus predicting the Great Fire of London in 1666 (totally happened, according to some) to the Mayans prophesizing the Earth’s end in 2012 (er, not so much), history isn’t exactly lacking in the premonition department.

These premonitions are actually more common than you might think. And it’s not just doom-filled calendars and ancient textbooks from the middle ages; there are plenty of contemporary premonitions that have been published, funnily enough, in works of fiction. Most literary forecasts that pop up in books are often brushed off as purely coincidental or chalked up to being educated guesses, but some of them are almost too unsettling for words. Let’s take a look.

    and

Link: - Ten Unnerving Premonitions That Foretold Disaster
When you wave goodbye to someone at the airport, does uneasiness suddenly hit your stomach? Or just before going on vacation, have you ever felt that your house will be burgled while you’re away?

Premonitions come in many forms—some as vague feelings, others as explicit dreams. Thousands of people have reported having premonitions right before a huge disaster or terrible tragedy shakes their world.

Does make you [well, some of us] think ... and want to investigate further. Wink

This is the prediction that people are talking about.

Psychic Sylvia Browne predicted the Coronavirus in her 2008 book FactCheckSylviaBrowneEndOfDays

Snopes ( https://www.snopes.com/ ) have given this a 'Mixture' rating (which indicates that "a claim has significant elements of both truth and falsity to it such that it could not fairly be described by any other rating".)

    What's True

Self-described psychic Sylvia Browne wrote in her 2008 book "End of Days" that a respiratory illness would spread across the globe.

    What's Undetermined

It's unclear whether Browne's "prediction" was more of a lucky guess, considering the book was written after the SARS outbreak. Furthermore, it's unknown —possibly unlikely — whether other aspects of Browne's book passage will bear out.

Many folk all around the world are already "making it mean something"  Mr. Green , indeed Donald Trump himself is contributing to the supposed accuracy of that prediction, with his various outlandish comments and assertions concerning the progress of the Covid-19 pandemic.

With regard to the 2020 Coronavirus prediction in Sylvia Browne's 2008 book, she does appear to have been very well-read up on the previous SARS outbreak, HIV, Mers, Ebola etc ... pirat , all of which are mentioned in her book,  and had obviously done a lot of research and investigation into the predictions of others before her (Nostradamus, etc), as she has chapters in her book devoted to all of them throughout history, giving detailed quotes and references.
